Ephemera

I have nothing profound to say.

Let’s Converse

Laying in the dark
She breathed deeply
It sunk again
Like the thousand other times
Each time a little heavier
Her heart
Like a buoy
Made from lead
She breathed again
Reliving the things
That they’d said
The knowledge acquired
Had done naught but demand
Another reason
For her heart to sink
With every interaction
She filled with sorrow
To her, every other human
Was better
Was brighter
Though misanthropy lingered
The more knowledge acquired
She hated herself
Her opinions, her wealth
As she drifted to sleep
She thought
How can someone so fragile
Feel so heavy and dense

Aneurysm

You are an aneurysm,
Disembodied.
Dilating my senses,
Becoming focal,
Threatening
To take over me.
Surging,
Relentless but sloven
Constantly.
So I read words,
For distraction,
Creating order,
Tales of foreign horrors.
Testing empathy.
An enigmatic process,
Which simply draws me
To you.
For aren’t we all
Just a surge,
Just a threat.
Trading order,
For empathy.
An aneurysm,
Disembodied.
